The first place graced with my presence, as well as my wallet, The Eldorado's Buffet. Nestled in the heart of down town Reno between the new and old, stands The Eldorado's casino. A long time staple of our fair city, has brought new life with the addition of their newest flavors. A great place to gamble, if your into that, and plenty of night life- before and after parties. I have been to this buffet before but will restrain from adding any previous opinions gained.
Parking in their well worn in parking garage, almost packed to the brim, was an adventure in its self. Its small and out dated for today's vehicles. The elevator was easy to find, and a quick and scenic ride to our destination. Newly remolded and pleasing to the eye, the inside was a happening site on this Friday night. The Buffet is beautiful, stone covered walls and an Italian color scheme greet you as you wait to be seated. Fridays and Saturdays are seafood night, so the price does reflect such. $24 a person did not keep me away, for the mounds of crab, shrimp, and desserts called my name.
The wait was typical, about 25 minutes to pay and be seated. It is after all tourist season. That said my hopes were high knowing that in order to keep the tourists coming back, they would have to be on their A game. While you wait for a table the lovingly have you stand not 10 feet from fresh Italian. Pasta, Pizza and Prosciutto..OH MY!
Once seated you are free to ravage and pillage your guts out. We have a system in my home, Detail! My husband and I take turns, one person is on Detail while the other gets a plate for themselves. It was my turn, and Detail mean get the largest plate you can find and fill it to bursting with crab to share. But don't forget the butter (for him) and lemon juice (for me). After my Detail is complete i then proceed to gather a plate for myself of prime rib, steak, shrimp and sole.
A Game they were, the crab was out of this world. Firm and salt free, no fishy smell or previously frozen after burn. Fresh and Delicious! The star had taken center stage and was greeted with applause from all around. The prim rib, not to be forgotten, tender and juicy. The steaks each cooked to the palate of every guest, ranging from medium rare to well. A variety of delights from around, smoothies at the salad bar, their famous mushroom pasta, a must try every time, and a version of gelato at the desserts. I filled myself to the eyes and waddled home completely satisfied.
But a word about the staff, accommodating and generically friendly, but not on top of things as they should have been. Which is why I always order two drinks at the start. By the way, apple juice and crab don't taste too well together. I learned the hard way, stick to soda or tea. Yuck.
All things considered, I give it 3 1/2 Pumpkins.
(Pumpkins =Stars) Why Pumpkins...why not?
